Dr. Christopher Kunkle is currently the Clinical Director of the South Carolina – Sexually Violent Predator Treatment Program operated by Correct Care Recovery Solutions. He is also the former Director and Chief Psychiatric Examiner of the New York State Bureau of Institutional Sex Offender Treatment. Since 2007, Dr. Kunkle has worked in the field of sex offender civil commitment, beginning as a treatment provide with the New York program. In 2009, he became a sex offender evaluator for the State of New York and has since offered expert testimony on sex offender civil commitment in both New York and Minnesota. In addition to being employed by the South Carolina and New York programs, he has served a program evaluator on sex offender civil commitment in Minnesota, North Dakota and New Jersey. In 2016, Dr. Kunkle was the recipient of the Marilyn Etcheverry Award of Excellence – Awarded by the New York State Alliance for the Prevention of Sex Abuse, and New York State Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers for his work in operating and further developing the NYS sex offender civil commitment program.
Dr. Kunkle is an Adjunct Professor in the Criminal Justice, Law and Behavior program at the College of St. Rose where has taught courses on Criminal Profiling, Serial and Sexual Crimes, and Forensic Psychology since 2010. He is also a member of the Board of Directors and the Consulting Chair for the American Investigative Society of Cold Cases. He holds a Doctorate and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from C.W. Post, and was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2016 for his accomplishments in the field of Forensic Psychology. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Forensic Science from the State University of New York at Oswego.
